Prohibited items

DoBid is a general-purpose local auction marketplace. To keep auctions safe and legal, certain items cannot be listed. This list is maintained by DoBid and updated as needed. Listings flagged automatically or reported by users are reviewed by our moderation team.

Weapons and weapon accessories

  • Firearms, ammunition, gunpowder, primers, magazines
  • Restricted or prohibited weapons under Canadian or US law
  • Stun guns, brass knuckles, switchblades, and other prohibited knives
  • Replica firearms and airsoft guns where local law restricts sale

Drugs and drug paraphernalia

  • Illegal drugs and controlled substances
  • Prescription medication, including expired or repackaged
  • Cannabis and cannabis products (regulated channels only)
  • Vapes, e-liquids, and tobacco products where regulated

Stolen, counterfeit, or recalled goods

  • Any item not legally owned by the seller
  • Counterfeit, replica, or knock-off branded goods
  • Items subject to active manufacturer or government recall
  • Bypass devices for emissions, odometers, or anti-theft systems

Living things

  • Live animals of any species
  • Animal parts, including ivory, fur, and protected species products
  • Human remains, body parts, or bodily fluids

Hazardous and regulated materials

  • Explosives, fireworks (where restricted), and flares
  • Hazardous chemicals, asbestos, radioactive materials
  • Used medical devices, sharps, or biological waste
  • Lock picks and tools whose primary purpose is unauthorized entry

Financial, digital, and adult

  • Currency, gift cards as the primary value, lottery tickets, securities
  • Account credentials, software licences, or digital-only goods
  • Pornography, adult services, or sexually explicit material

Vehicles — special rules

  • VIN must be provided and accurate for vehicles, trailers, and powersports
  • Salvage, rebuilt, or branded titles must be disclosed in the listing
  • Vehicles without valid ownership documentation cannot be listed

Catch-all

  • Anything illegal to sell in the buyer's or seller's jurisdiction
  • Anything DoBid determines is unsafe, misleading, or against the spirit of a local auction marketplace
Report a listing. Anyone can report a listing that appears to violate these rules. Open the listing, tap the report icon, and pick a reason. Admins review every report.
