Bidding terms
Before placing your first bid on DoBid, you accept these terms. They exist to protect both sellers and serious buyers. This is a plain-English summary maintained by DoBid; the binding contract for your account is the Terms of Service.
DoBid is a marketplace facilitator
DoBid is a marketplace facilitator only. We are not a seller, buyer, or auctioneer. All item transactions occur directly between buyers and sellers. DoBid provides the platform, marketplace tools, and buyer-fee payment processing, but we do not take title to items, collect purchase prices for sellers, or guarantee transactions.
A bid is a binding offer
Placing a bid is not a casual gesture. You are making a real, binding offer for the item at the amount you typed. If the seller accepts your high bid at auction close, you are committed to completing the purchase locally within the pickup window.
You cannot retract a bid
Bids cannot be cancelled or lowered after submission. The platform shows a confirmation step before a bid is placed.
The seller has final say at close
At the end of the auction the seller can either accept or decline the highest bid. The seller cannot accept a lower bid and cannot counteroffer. If the seller declines, no transaction occurs and you owe nothing. A seller may also withdraw a listing before accepting a bid — if that happens you are notified that your bid no longer stands, and nothing is charged to you. Once a seller accepts a bid, they can no longer withdraw it.
A card on file is required to bid
You need a valid card saved before placing a bid. Placing a bid does not charge the card. If the seller accepts your winning bid, DoBid authorizes and immediately captures the disclosed 10% buyer fee. See clause 6.
You pay the seller in person at pickup
DoBid does not collect the item price and does not pay the seller. The buyer pays the seller the accepted item price directly, in person, at pickup.
The 10% buyer fee
Listing and bidding are free. When a seller accepts your winning bid, DoBid authorizes and immediately captures 10% from your saved card as the buyer fee. You pay the item price separately to the seller at pickup. If the seller declines or does not accept, DoBid charges nothing. The buyer fee is 10% of the accepted offer (minimum $1, maximum $1,000).
Local pickup only
DoBid is local pickup only. There is no shipping, delivery, or carrier integration. Pickup must occur within 4 days of acceptance unless both parties agree to a different arrangement.
No bidding on your own listings
You cannot bid on a listing you posted. The platform blocks this server-side.
Bidding is public
Your username appears next to your bids in the public bid history on each listing, including bids placed before this changed. Your full name, email, phone number and address are never shown. The seller receives your contact details only after they accept your high bid.
Seller decision deadline (48-hour decision window)
After an auction ends, the seller has 48 hours to accept or decline the highest offer. If the seller accepts, the transaction moves forward. If the seller declines or does not respond within 48 hours, the offer expires and the transaction does not move forward.
Disputes
DoBid does not act as escrow and does not guarantee item condition. We keep audit logs of every important action and provide a support and dispute process. Admin review is available through Support.
